Search engine optimization (SEO) helps search engines understand your website and helps potential customers find it in unpaid search results. The business goal is to reach people looking for what you offer.
The main parts of SEO
- On-page SEO: Write clear page titles, useful headings and content that answers customers’ questions.
- Technical SEO: Help search engines access important pages. Fix broken links and improve loading speed and mobile usability.
- Off-page SEO: Build your reputation through useful work, relevant mentions and naturally earned links.
- SEO audit: Review the website, identify problems and choose the most useful improvements first.
A simple example
A WordPress developer’s service page can explain what is included, show real project examples and make contacting them easy. That helps visitors more than repeating “best developer” throughout the page.
Results and timing
Track relevant search visits and enquiries, alongside rankings. An audit score alone does not show whether your business gained customers.
Some changes appear quickly; others take months. Agree on the work, reporting and review dates before hiring. No one can guarantee first place on Google.
What to prepare before starting
Share your website URL, main services, target customers or locations, and business goal. For an initial audit, provide read-only Search Console access through an invitation.
